1) The movie is an adaptation of Julie Murphy’s young adult novel. Jennifer Aniston signed on March of 2017 to star and produce. The author makes a cameo at the end of the film.

2) The film uses many of Dolly Parton’s classic songs because the main character Willowdean is a huge Dolly fan. Aniston got Parton to write and perform some new songs, including the film’s theme song.

3) Anne Fletcher the film’s director was working as a choreographer on films; Orange County, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Walk Hard the Dewey Cox Story, to name a few before transitioning to a director.

4) James Corden was offered the role of Lee, but turned it down. Harold Perrineau (plays Bobby Brooks on the FOX series, ‘Star’) ended up with the role.

5) Principle shooting on the film took place in Convington, Georgia (pop. 13,347), The town is located 35 miles east of Atlanta.
