Hulu Beats Netflix With Surprise Drop of 'Fyre Fraud' Doc

Hulu went to the ‘Netflix Playbook’ for the release of Frye Fraud with a no advanced warning. The 96-minute Hulu doc tells the story of the 2017 Frye festival gone bad chronicling the lead-up and after math featuring an exclusive and extensive post-festival interview with Fyre Festival mastermind and con man Billy McFarland. He is currently serving a six-year sentence.

Hulu’s surprise release happens just four days before Netflix’s announced release of their own documentary on the festival, Frye. In fact, the IMDB Pro page for the Hulu doc (see below) only has the announced release and four credits with a working title.

Hulu’s Fyre Fraud is Directed by Emmy-nominated, Peabody-award winners Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason. Here’s a timeline of the festival (source: Spin).
